# append\_acpt\_meta\_field\_value

Append a row to a Repeater field value

Append a single row to a **Repeater** field's value, without having to fetch and re-send the rows that are already stored.

[`save_acpt_meta_field_value()`](/developers/functions/save_acpt_meta_field_value.md) always **replaces** a Repeater field's entire value — its `value` argument is the complete, final list of rows you want stored, not just the new one. Sending only the new row there overwrites the first existing row instead of adding one. `append_acpt_meta_field_value()` exists specifically to add one row at a time.

### Usage

```php
append_acpt_meta_field_value([
    'post_id'    => 123,
    'box_name'   => 'box',
    'field_name' => 'repeater_field',
    'value'      => [
        'child_field'         => 'foo',
        'another_child_field' => 'bar',
    ],
]);
```

### Parameters

| `post_id`              | integer | Conditional | The post ID                                                |
| `term_id`              | integer | Conditional | The term ID                                                |
| `user_id`              | integer | Conditional | The user ID                                                |
| `comment_id`           | integer | Conditional | The comment ID                                             |
| `wc_product_attribute` | integer | Conditional | The WooCommerce product attribute ID                       |
| `option_page`          | string  | Conditional | The option page slug                                       |
| `box_name`             | string  | Required    | The meta box name                                          |
| `field_name`           | string  | Required    | The Repeater field name. Any other field type is rejected. |
| `value`                | array   | Required    | The row to append, keyed by each child field's name        |
| `forged_by`            | array   | Optional    | Advanced. Used internally to resolve cloned fields         |

Exactly one of `post_id`, `term_id`, `user_id`, `comment_id`, `option_page`, or `wc_product_attribute` must be provided to identify the location.

### Return

| `bool` | `true` on success, `false` on failure — including when `field_name` doesn't refer to a Repeater field |
